The THOR 7 satellite provides regional coverage with a favorable look angle over the main European shipping lanes and utilizes relatively small spot beams , which provide unprecedented high-power performance for maritime applications.

But there are other satellites currently in orbit which function on the Ku-band. So there won’t be a problem finding a backup satellite to maintain a continuous link in case the main satellite results in a blockage zone position or if you are navigating in an area not yet covered by the Ka-band service.

LEO constellations will be humanity’s network over land, sea and air. Fixed or on the move, LEO is the future of global communication.

We are in discussion with one of the two LEO constellations to start the service from 2022, and with antenna manufacturers about network and terminal design, concepts and ideas that will allow LEO to replace GEO and LTE networks.
