Overview
The SKYCOMM-TB120 X/Ku/Ka is an innovative, state of the art triband SATCOM terminal for maritime tactical use.
The dual dish design provides no-compromises triband functionality (X/Ku/Ka). Terminals and/or bands are remotely electrically switchable. Furthermore, by simply installing an upgrade kit the terminal can easily be transformed in a Very Long Line of Sight (V-LOS) system in C, L or S band.
Such an innovative design results in a highly performing terminal under various aspects: mechanical strength, RF efficiency and versatility, system reliability.
Additional features can easily be added upon request, such as interfacing with Command and Control Systems, Tactical Tables and more.
Highly reliable in the worst operative scenarios, thanks to the use of state-of-the-art Harmonic Drives driven by our sophisticated, proprietary electronic control boards.

Radio-Frequency
RF design has been optimized to obtain the best link budget with the highest efficiency. Swept volume has been minimized, while still providing a low cross-polarization thanks to the high-performance feeding system. The terminal guarantees Each system contains 2 separate dishes:
Dish no. 1 simultaneously operates in the X and Ka bands, with a shared ADE dual reflector optic with 1.2 m diameter.
Dish no. 2 operates in the Ku band (M standard). By installing a dedicated kit, it can be transformed in a V-LOS system in the C, L or S band.
Many years of experience acquired designing multi-band systems has been used to create this compact yet highly effective RF architecture.
Mechanics
Mechanical design ensures exceptional tracking performances even during the most adverse sea conditions, thanks to the use of advanced electric motors coupled via harmonic gearboxes, served by an absolute incremental encoder with an accuracy of 0.1 arc seconds. Roller pinion gears guarantees precise coupling, free from backlashes and mechanical gaps. Carbon based composite materials and titanium alloys have been selected to withstand the harshest environments without compromising the performance of the antenna system and decreasing the need of periodical maintenance.
Size, weight and swept volume are optimized for break down strongly the impact of the antenna.
Electronic
The Antenna Control Unit (ACU) is based on several modules that manage the motors, the sophisticated attitude system, the multiple tuners and all the RF Bands switch actuators. Innovative algorithm based on hyper-complex mathematics, borrowed from astronautics attitude system, has been implemented to improve the pointing dynamics and delete uncertainties caused by heading drifting effects. A dual antennas system can be flawlessly installed using the optional Arbitrator that can re-route multi-band RF signals to the selected antenna. All the antenna parameters and diagnostic data are available through an intuitive and user-friendly web interface available locally or remote, safety maintained by CY4SAT module.
